Just when we thought Facebook couldn’t impact our lives anymore, it found another way.

An Israeli couple has named their baby Like, after the Like button on Facebook. We’ve heard some unique names in our time, but this one is a bit silly. The couple claims they thought the name sounded “modern and innovative.”

Facebook did not pay the couple, obviously, but this incident shows how large a role social media play in our lives. Next thing you know, parents will start naming their children, Facebook. Wait, that actually happened earlier this year! A man in Egypt named his daughter Facebook to express “his joy at the achievements made by the January 25 youth.”

And most recently here in Australia, Sunrise presenter Grant Denyer, announced the birth of his first child with an interesting name – Sailor Shelley Denyer.

Today’s the day, Game 1 of the 2011 State of Origin Series!

Tonight, the teams from NSW and QLD will go head-to-head. State against state, mate against mate for the glory of Rugby League and bragging rights for the next year.

QLD have won the last few series straight, with NSW failing to rise to the challenge again and again.

Today is the birthday of famed children’s author and illustrator – Roger Hargreaves.

Who’s that I hear you ask? Well, if you’ve ever read a Little Miss or Mr Men book, then you have!

Born in 1935, Roger had written well over 100 books by the time of his death in 1998, thrilling generations of children across the world.

Yesterday, the 4th of May, has colloquially become known as Star Wars Day.

Tradition has it that you greet everyone with the following: “May the 4^th be with you”.

This is taken from the popular Star Wars quote, “May the Force be with you” – May the fourth be with you… get it?

Six films, a few television series and specials, thousands upon thousands of merchandise floating about, this is one of the most successful film franchises around and touched millions of people the world over.
