We have a winner!

A few weeks ago, we announced that we were conducting “The World Interviews David Beckham“, live and exclusive on Yahoo!.

We gave you the chance to participate, by posing the question: “If you could ask David Beckham one question, what will you ask him and why?“. The winner would receive a football signed by David Beckham as well as the opportunity to have their question presented during the interview. How cool is that?

We are pleased to announce that mum of 3 j’s has won with her question: How do you and Victoria cope as parents? Are you hands on like the rest of us or do you rely on Nanny’s to raise the children. Do your kids realise how famous their parents are?.

There’s a box of goodies on the way to her in the mail, along with the jabulani ball signed by David.

mum of 3 j’s question was also chosen to be included in the Yahoo! interview that was streamed live across the world last night. As it was the middle of the night for Australia, our colleagues in Singapore kindly asked the question on behalf of Yahoo!7 and the Australian Answers Community.

You can catch mum of 3 j’s question at approximately 28:25 into the interview. David talked for quite some time in response! If you wish to view a larger version, please visit Yahoo!7 Sport.

Once again, congratulations to mum of 3 j’s! We hope you enjoy your football and the interview :)

What would YOU ask David Beckham?

David Beckham needs no introduction. He is one of the most iconic athletes and decorated football players of all-time. He is the second most capped England player in history, scoring in three FIFA World Cups.  However, David’s name now stretches beyond just football –in recent years, his name has also become synonymous with style, fashion, and recently, through his work as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, he has become known as a key advocate of charity work.

Here at Yahoo! we are honoured to have David as our Global Ambassador working with Yahoo! Sport to interact with as many fans as possible and sharing his thoughts on subjects ranging from his favourite World Cup player to his preparation for the big day – with much more in between!  If you haven’t checked this out already, take a look at David’s coverage on Yahoo!.

Here’s a taste of one his interviews:

The World Interviews David Beckham

We will be hosting The World Interviews David Beckham LIVE and exclusive on Yahoo! And YOU – the Answers community, are the ones with the golden opportunity to have your question put to David.

We’ve asked you the question:

Maybe you want to ask about how his career took off? His future ambitions beyond football?  Or even find out what it is really like to walk out onto the pitch with 100,000 fans cheering your name?

Whatever your question, come up with the most original, interesting, topical or relevant question and yours could be the one we ask when the World Interviews David Beckham on July 14th GMT!

If that isn’t enough… we’ll also be rewarding the Best Answer for Yahoo!7 Answers with a football signed by David Beckham!!

Remember that your answer MUST follow all the Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. If you do not follow these guidelines your question will NOT be considered.

By answering the question you will be accepting our Competition Terms and Conditions.  The competition is only open to residents of AUSTRALIA.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard

What a day it’s been!

Julia Gillard made history today, being sworn in as Australia’s 27th and first female Prime Minister. She was elected unopposed after Kevin Rudd stepped aside, ahead of the expected vote in caucus this morning to decide the leadership of the Labor Party and ultimately, our nation.

We are well used to Julia as our Deputy Prime Minister, but being in the top job is a little bit different:

And what about the Labor Party itself… is there division within the ranks? Will they be able to hold it together until the next election?

Two things we do know for sure, there will be a general election within the next year and all eyes will be on our new PM to see how effectively she can lead our country and her party through it.

Be sure to check out Yahoo!7 News for all the latest coverage!

Ronnie James Dio

Today sees the passing of another rock legend, Ronnie James Dio, at the age of 67.

With a career spanning over 50 years, including several stints as the lead singer for Black Sabbath after the departure of Ozzy Osbourne in 1979, he was a key part of the success of their famous Heaven and Hell album. He returned to Black Sabbath in 1991 and again in 2006, as well as forging his own successful solo career with his own bands – The Vegas Kings, Ronnie & The Ramblers, Ronnie and the Red Caps, Ronnie Dio and the Prophets, The Electric Elves, The Elves, Dio and Rainbow. In 2006, he became part of Heaven and Hell along with former Black Sabbath alumni, Tommy Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice.

Ronnie’s wife Wendy posted the following statement on his official website:

Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.

- Wendy Dio

I’m sure that many of you, like myself, remember the late 80’s and early 90’s with Black Sabbath all over the radio. What is your favourite memory of Ronnie James Dio? Were you ever fortunate enough to experience one of his concerts?

Meet the Australian Nissan GT Champion

Meet Daniel Holland, an ordinary 25 year old from Melbourne who loves playing Gran Turismo on his PS3.

He loves playing so much that he entered the Nissan GT Academy, an international virtual–to–reality race car driving challenge. He recorded the fastest lap online and qualified for the Australian finals, competing against 16 other finalists… and won! He is now off to Silverstone in the United Kingdom to represent Australia in the next stage and train to be real race car driver.

Daniel says he’d love to be like V8 racing legend, Glenn Seton, and wants to know what racing car driver you admire:

Have you ever dreamed of driving a race car? What driver would you most want to be like?
